Multi-zone presence: geofence the yard, lock the building
Here’s where a warehouse benefits from having both location controls, because they answer different questions.
The office-IP lock is the hard control for the enclosed building. Your warehouse’s network connects out through a public IP address; lock clock-in to it and a punch only counts from on the site’s network. A phone on home Wi-Fi can’t borrow your building’s public IP, so an off-site punch is refused server-side rather than logged. Enter your whole network as a single IP, a range, or a CIDR block, and you’ve covered the floor. The GPS geofence covers the places a network lock can’t reach — the yard, the gate, an outdoor staging area. You can set a company-wide fence or a per-office fence with its own latitude, longitude, and radius (in metres or feet), so a large site can be described accurately instead of forced into one circle. It honors the same block/warn/flag modes.
One honest note, because it matters for planning: GPS is a deterrent, not proof of presence — it can be spoofed, so treat the fence as a second layer and let the IP lock be the hard one. Overnight shifts and forgotten punches
